Vanessa Beck is a Melbourne based freelance theatre and festival artist. Her work has featured in many festivals and theatre events, indoor and outdoor, including Our Nation on Parade for the Celebration of Federation, the Fringe festival, Moomba, the Royal Melbourne Show and the Darebin, St.Kilda, Brimbank and Knox City festivals parades. Her most recent work has been with Polyglot Puppet Theatre’s High Rise and Rising Higher, Baggy Pants and the upcoming Dry Water for the Big West Festival. She designed Storm with Croxton Schools and Arts Access and works with The Women’s Circus doing puppet building workshops with the participants and designing and making puppets, large and small, for Ghosts and the upcoming production of Freaks.Vanessa has taught in Universities and schools at all levels including TAFE courses at Box Hill and Swinburne and has run design and building workshops in large scale puppet building, costume and stage design and production for a diverse range of community groups. She is currently Artist in Residence at Camberwell Girls Grammar School. She is designing and building a puppet work including set and props, for the Women’s Circus latest show and working on Big West with Polyglot Puppet Theatre.
