Help us to ignite imaginations

At Polyglot, we ignite young imaginations, with the aim of making creativity as natural as breathing.  You can help us.

It’s been an extraordinary 12 months for Polyglot. In our 30th birthday season last year, Polyglot toured 341 performances of nine works across Australia, playing to 58,383 children. Another 3,350 children participated in our workshops across regional and metropolitan Victoria. Our major new work, The Big Game, premiered at the Melbourne International Arts Festival, following an extensive creative development process in collaboration with children from the Carlton Housing Estate.

Polyglot is focusing more than ever on developing experiential, interactive theatre and play spaces for children aged up to 12 years, with young imaginations smack bang at the centre of our artistic process. Our newest project, City of Riddles, will create dialogue and acceptance between children from five very diverse schools and communities: a rural primary school from a farming community, a private girls’ school in a privileged Melbourne suburb, a school with majority of Horn of Africa refugee and migrant families, a disadvantaged school in Whittington near Geelong, and children from the Prahran high rise adventure playground club.

In making City of Riddles, Polyglot’s teaching artists will use the drawings, video letters, written texts and sound recordings made by children to explore different images of themselves and their perceptions of other people. Their contributions, sought throughout the development of the work, will inform and inspire the process. In keeping with our reputation, City of Riddles will be an original interactive work for children that that invites our audience into an immersive fantasy world and opens the imagination toward new possibilities.

How you can help

Like so many others, Polyglot is doing it tough at the moment. Hit by decreases in government funding and the economic downturn, we are seeking donations – big and small – from people who believe, like Polyglot, that theatre is child’s play.

City of Riddles is an ambitious project and we still have over $50,000 to raise. Your donation will help us to continue to work with children who will benefit most from the experience.

You can donate online using your credit card by clicking the DONATE button at the top of the page.  Alternatively:
